Celebrating Young People & Creativity
Our doors may be closed, but we’re still serving the community
AS WE begin another month under restrictions, the Regional Cultural Centre continues to bring you lots of exciting initiatives, and even a chance to win a children’s bicycle, courtesy of Burrito Loco.
Our friends and neighbours have put up this fantastic prize for the best submission to our Recipes for Disasters Challenge, supported by Creative Ireland (Submission Deadline: Monday 1st June).
To celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg this month, we have also teamed up with The Loft Letterkenny to present the Alone Together Mini (Online) Festival and we want YOU to choose the acts for us!
We are thrilled to be joined by our friend, well-known fiddle player Séamus McGuire for the next two weeks as he brings us some traditional tunes and the stories behind them. Continue reading the blog for all the latest from Your RCC.

Recipes For Disasters (Open Call)
Supported by Creative Ireland
What can I make when I have nothing in the cupboard and there’s a pandemic outside?
‘Storecupboard cooking’ has risen in popularity in some parts of the world and involves making recipes that include those ingredients that have a habit of living unloved at the back of the cupboard.
We’re asking families and young people to test and submit recipes along with visual documentation and then committee of local restaurateurs/chefs will pick their favourites to be compiled into a short publication.
The best recipes will be published in our online cookbook and released as part of Cruinniú na nÓg and maybe even win a prize from our favourite Mexican Gill, Burrito Loco, who have also promised one lucky winner a children’s bicycle. Submission Deadline: Monday 1st June. MORE INFO

RCC SOUNDS 017: Damien McGeehan
Community mixtape, lovingly selected to keep us company
We tasked a mix of local, national musicians and music fanatics to each curate a playlist under a theme of their own choice.
Donegal fiddle player Damien McGeehan is a household name in the Irish traditional music industry and much sought after touring and session musician.
The Ardara native has recorded and toured all over the world with well-known Irish performers such as Derek Ryan, Nathan Carter and Daniel O’Donnell with whom he featured on the Late Late Show last week.
He is also a member of the Donegal fiddle trio, Fidíl, who released their latest album Decade (Raelach Records), earlier this year and was described by The Irish Times’ Siobhán Long as ‘nothing short of breath-taking’.
Damien’s enjoyable journey into compiling his RCC SOUNDS mixtape reflects music he has been listening to recently and then made him think of other artists he hasn’t listened to in some time.
CLICK HERE for Damien’s and all playlists to-date by Tommy Callaghan, Paul Connolly (The Wood Burning Savages), Maria McCormack, John O’Neill (The Undertones), Áine Ní Bhreasláin, BANYAH and many more.

Week 8: Adrian Kelly
We have invited artists, curators and poets to take over our new RCC Curated Content to present their work, thoughts and ideas. Each artist will present curated content for seven days.
This week, we welcome Adrian Kelly, curator and manager of the Glebe House and Gallery, Churchill.
Glebe House, the home of renowned artist Derek Hill for nearly thirty years, is situated on rising ground, beside Lough Gartan, east of Glenveagh National Park.
Originally known as St Columb’s, the 1828 Regency-style house is decorated with William Morris textiles, and collections of Islamic and Japanese art, as well as 300 works by leading twentieth-century artists such as Picasso and Kokoshka.
Over the week, Adrian will be presenting a selection of works from the Glebe Gallery’s eclectic collection, some well-known, but also some of of the lesser known treasures. FOLLOW HERE
