Letterkenny was a hive of activity on Friday night as people from across Donegal came along to experience an explosion of creativity.
The Cathedral town came alive for Culture Night, Ireland’s annual nocturnal cultural extravaganza, with a wide range of events taking place throughout Letterkenny.
People from all walks of life came along to enjoy this unique evening with over 50 diverse events in 27 venues in Letterkenny and all free of charge.
Many of the highlights that opened in the RCC for CUlture Night are still on display, so why not call in this week and check them out.
FAI – National Football Exhibition (20th – 29th September): In order to promote the UEFA European Championships coming to Dublin in 2020, the Football Association of Ireland, Dublin City Council and The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport joined forces to create a National Football Exhibition which provides free access to anyone interested in learning about 60 years of the tournament, reliving some golden Irish footballing memories, discovering rare memorabilia, programmes, jerseys and artefacts, and having fun with the interactive stations and photo booth.
When I Was A Child – Foyer Exhibition (20th September – 5th October): Following on from the highly successful ‘I am Donegal’ exhibition, Peadar McDaid invites 50 artists, photographers and writers to present work on small wooden 8×10 panels that reflects something from their childhood – a memory, a place, a toy, a pet or a self portrait.
Donegal’s Atlantic Way Photography Exhibition (17th September – 20th October): Donegal’s Atlantic Way is a new photography and video exhibition showcasing a selection of work from Dr Michael Sugrue’s new book of the same name. The exhibition will be hosted in Gallery 2 and The Foyer. See one of Mr Sugrue’s images featured below.
