Beautifully written and eerily haunting, Sinéad Gleeson’s fiction debut, Hagstone, takes in the darker side of human nature and the mysteries of the natural world.
On a wild and rugged island, artist Nell lives alongside a mysterious commune of women, and a sound that only some people can hear. Atmospheric and elemental, Hagstone blends landscape and folklore and is hugely influenced by film, music and visual art.
Following last year’s popular brunch gathering, author and cineaste Sinéad Gleeson returns to Sound! to celebrate the release of her debut novel, which features an original song written by Lankum’s Daragh Lynch.
She’ll be joined by Paul Duane and Lankum’s Ian Lynch, the duo behind the new film All You Need Is Death, to discuss folk horror, collaborations, the intersections between literature, music, movies and art, and the spaces in-between.
