VENUE: An Grianán Theatre

Join filmmaker, actor, and YouTuber John D Ruddy as he explores the vast sound design of Star Wars, breaking down scenes, discovering some very surprising origins of the iconic sound effects, and indeed learning about the man who started it all, Ben Burtt.

The workshop will also involve an interactive recording session where we record our own soundscape to some legendary scenes from the Star Wars saga.

John himself is a longtime fan of Star Wars from childhood, having spent years drawing X-wings, listening to the music and working out which order is best to watch the films.

NB: Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Presented as part of Sound! Soundtrack Film Festival 2024, a festival that celebrates the art of music and sound in film, via a series of film screenings, live performances, workshops and interactive events. Sound! is presented by Regional Cultural Centre in partnership with An Grianán Theatre.
