Earagail Arts Festival is delighted to welcome Matthew Sharpe to Donegal as the second year artist in residence in partnership with Dublin Fringe Festival.
Matthew is an actor and writer who has garnered recognition through programmes like Dublin Fringe WEFT, INVEST, and The Baptiste Programme.
In this workshop through games and VR worlds, Matthew will explore how we can bring the energy and mindset of the virtual world into real life and how to empower young people of all backgrounds with confidence.
This is a free workshop but spaces are limited. Please email outreach@eaf.ie to register. Under 18’s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Matthew was selected for the Dublin Fringe WEFT programme, which facilitates the support and creation of work for non-white artists across Ireland.
INVEST – a freelance artist development project based in Belfast with a national and international reach, designed to upskill and create the next generation of inclusive artists to lead Northern Ireland’s theatre and dance sectors.
The Baptiste Programme, a paid and mentored script development programme for Black Irish theatre makers and writers of colour.
With these opportunities and support Matthew has been able to get his first piece commissioned by the Arts Council Northern Ireland which will debut in theatres in 2024!
Matthew hopes to continue writing and is interested in exploring how the industry can utilise VR/AR technologies in theatre spaces.
