Performance art has a dynamic history in Ireland and it continues to grow strongly today. It is considered a raw and very accessible way to engage in creativity and art. This introductory workshop guided by artist Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl offers an insight to performance art for those considering developing this approach in their practice or those simply interested in creative exploration. The workshop will provide a safe space to learn and develop skills to create artworks engaging in performance art and is suitable for those without previous experience.

Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl is a Belfast based artist. Sinéad works with a range of new media to create audio installations and engages in live art performance to explore themes of gender, identity, truth and justice. Through the creation of spatial audio environments, Sinéad uses the agency of sound as a method of resistance.
Working at the intersection of contemporary fine art and technology, Sinéad is a current member and Trustee of Vault Artist Studios, Belfast, having received the 2020 Catalyst/Kilkenny Exchange Award and the 2021 University of Atypical DDAF Award. Sinéad is also a co-founder of Second Collective Belfast creating and promoting the art of emerging, mature, female artists.
