Open Call for Participants: Join the Shared Histories Community Photography Project

Are you passionate about exploring the rich heritage of your local community, connecting with others from diverse backgrounds, and using the power of photography to tell your stories? If so, we invite you to be a part of the Shared Histories Project.

Shared Histories – Diverse Views is a dynamic cross-border, cross-community initiative that brings together individuals and communities from the borderlands of Armagh/Louth and Donegal/Derry. Through the lens of photography, this project aims to unlock shared histories, foster understanding, and create sustainable connections. It’s a unique opportunity to delve into the past, share your experiences, and create a more nuanced understanding of your community’s heritage.

This is a free opportunity – no costs involved. Lunch will be provided during the group sessions. The project is organised by Photo Museum Ireland, Nerve Centre, Regional Cultural Centre and the National Library of Ireland.

When:

Provisional Workshop Dates – Wednesday 20, Thursday 21 and Friday 22 March 2024.

Who Can Participate:

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals from the following areas:

  • Armagh/Louth
  • Donegal/Derry

As a participant, you’ll get to:

  • Engage in creative activities
  • Connect with people from the opposite side of the border
  • Explore your family and community history through photography
  • Learn digital archiving and augmented reality skills
  • Co-create a visual narrative of the borderlands today
