Victor Vasarely (1906 – 1997)

The Regional Cultural Centre in association with the Vasarely Foundation and the Vasarely Museum in Pécs, Hungary, curated a retrospective of Victor Vasarely, focusing on the key aspects of his career as an artist. The exhibition had references to his place of birth in Pécs, Hungary, his studies the ‘Mühely’ in Budapest, his life in Gordes and his ‘Photogramismes’. The publishing of the ‘Yellow Manifesto’ in 1955, the development of ‘Plastic Alphabets’ of the 1960’s and ‘unité plastique’ as seen is such works as ‘Biadan’, the ‘Permutations’ of the 1970’s, and the ‘Planetary Folklore’ series of the 1980’s and 90’s also featured.
