The Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny are delighted to host an evening of song, dance, craft, art and music from around our Donegal Islands on the 14th of March in aid of the James Dixon Gallery.
This will be the first time that this type of event will be held in Donegal and will feature a host of artists from around our islands including, Patsy Dan Rodgers (King of Tory), Gerry Early (Aranmore), Tommy McFadden (Inisbofin) to name but a few.
Island knitwear, Thatch cottages and original paintings will be on display for the event, and a host of Arts and Crafts from the Islands on exhibition and for sale.
Anyone wishing to show off their talents on the floor or brush up on their dance skills would be advised to come along as with every island gathering a ceili always ensues.
The James Dixon gallery on Tory Island has been open and selling Art from the Islands since the 60’s but over recent years has become run down and weather-beaten and is now in need of urgent repairs. Donegal County Council has recently granted permission for remedial works and an extension of the gallery, allowing for the gallery to remain open and give a much needed boost in support to all the artists living on the Island.
Tickets are available at the RCC and will be available on the night subject to demand. They will be priced at 10 euros each (Children Free) and all money collected on the night will go to the Gallery fund. Also donations will be gladly accepted.
Other performers include:
Anton Meenan, Grainne McClafferty, Nabla Boyle, Kathleen Rodgers, Michael F Rodgers, Sean D Rodgers, Breda Rodgers, Ruadhri L Rodgers, Ray Murray, Grace Ann Meenan, Hugo Boyle, Noreen Meenan, Mary Rodgers, Daniel Cullen, Jim Ryan.
There will also be guest artists performing on the night
