The House and The Tree

January 15 – February 23

For his solo show, ‘The House and The Tree’, Jerwood Prize nominee Eamon O’Kane investigated architecture and landscape in County Donegal, through monumental wall drawings, video installation and the reconstruction of a roof space that was demolished in the 1950’s at his parents’ house outside Lifford. O’Kane also transported a Sycamore tree that was hit by lightening in 1999 from Lifford. Legend has it that King James II dined under this tree on the way to the siege of Derry in 1689 and gave the house protection during his retreat as he burned other houses in the area.
