RCC BME Writer Mentorship Opportunity

Thursday March 12, 2026
BME ArtistMentorship Opportunity (1000 x 625 px)

This opportunity is open to members of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities based in County Donegal.

The Regional Cultural Centre, in association with The Pig’s Back Literary Journal, and supported by Donegal Arts Office, are offering a creative mentorship for an emerging writer to develop their work with guidance from an experienced literary mentor. The programme is funded by the Arts Council of Ireland.

What’s involved?
The selected writer will take part in a series of one-to-one mentoring sessions focused on developing their writing practice, refining new work, and gaining insight into the publishing process. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the editorial team of The Pig’s Back Literary Journal and learn more about preparing work for publication.

As part of the mentorship, the writer will develop a body of work that may be considered for publication.

How to apply:
Send us a message on social media or email RCC@donegalcoco.ie with the following:
1. Your full name, address, and the community you come from
2. A short description of your writing experience (if any)
3. A short sample of your writing (up to 1,000 words)
4. A few sentences on why you would like to take part in the mentorship

This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your voice, strengthen your writing practice, and connect with a supportive literary community.

Application deadline – Friday 18 April, 5.00pm.

Open to members of Black and Minority Ethnic communities based in County Donegal only.

“Donegal is a county where everyone belongs. We are committed to integration, inclusion, equality, and respect for all communities.
