High Society

May 14

Screening as part of the Bealtaine Festival 2014.

Grace Kelly plays Tracy Lord, a wilful, beautiful but ever so stuck-up ice goddess who, having been through one marriage to likeable musician CK Dexter Haven (Bing Crosby), is about to enter another with stuffy but dependable George (Lund).

Her plans for a sensational socialite wedding are, however, dashed by a series of troublesome events. Dexter and Mike Connor (Frank Sinatra), a reporter covering the nuptials, help Tracy find her human side and realise whom she really should marry!

This delightful, high gloss musical remake of The Philadelphia Story gets it gloriously right, featuring the classic Cole Porter songs High Society, Well Did You Evah and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, as well as a cameo appearance by Louis Armstrong and his band.
