The evening has an underneath is a solo exhibition by Cara Donaghey, featuring poetry by Alicia Byrne Keane. This exhibition investigates the overlap in atmosphere between their work, exploring obscure digital archives, sonder, and a nostalgia for the early 2010s internet landscape.
Cara Donaghey is a visual artist from Co. Donegal. She graduated from NCAD with a degree in Fine Art Printmaking and Visual Culture in 2017, and is currently based in Buncrana. She is a member of Derry Print Workshop. Her work examines archives, digital ephemera and printed matter.
Alicia is a Dublin-based poet, with past research and poetry funded by the Irish Research Council and Irish Arts Council. Alicia’s poems in the collection ‘Pretend Cartoon Strength’ (2023) feature coastal landscapes urban and suburban, draw from emotions as mediated by technology, and follow the circuitous movement of Nokia phone games.
Exhibition runs until Saturday 26 October.
