Opening – Saturday 7 December, 6pm
In Vita di Strada, photographer Richard Noble explores a raw and unfiltered side of life, capturing spontaneous street scenes from Italian towns in 2007 and 2008. Unlike his earlier, highly controlled work—where he meticulously chose models, outfits, and settings to create what he calls “choreographed reality”—this series allowed Noble to release control and let the moment unfold on its own. Adopting the role of a silent observer, he captured authentic expressions of life, emotion, and human connection, immersing himself in the unguarded world of Italian street life.
Noble was struck by the openness of Italian expression—their emotions displayed on their faces and in their gestures, creating powerful narratives within each frame. As he revisited these photographs over time, he found each image to be a source of continued discovery, revealing more about the lives and stories behind each face. He often wonders where these individuals are today and how their stories have evolved.
Vita di Strada invites viewers to explore these captured moments and reflect on the fleeting, yet timeless nature of human interaction. Noble welcomes visitors to share their own interpretations and reflections in the Guest Book, adding new layers of meaning to these captured moments of everyday life.
