Ramelton Art Group – Precious Moments, Places & People – Reminiscence, Nostalgia & Wonder
The Ramelton Art Group, founded by Mary Lynch in 2019, meets weekly in Ramelton Town Hall, where creativity and community come together. Alongside their regular coaching sessions, members take inspiration from visits to the studios of Donegal artists such as Stephen Bennett (Ardara), Ros Harvey and Tim Stampton (Malin), and Sinéad Smith (Carndonagh). These encounters fuel their passion for painting and deepen their connection to the vibrant local arts scene.
Working mainly in oil on canvas, the group’s exhibition also includes a selection of pastel works. The paintings range from realistic to abstract, capturing landscapes and skyscapes that stretch from Donegal to Cork — scenes that have sparked both imagination and emotion among the artists.
For the members, the group is about more than making art; it’s a space for friendship, creativity, and wellbeing. The shared experience of painting together brings joy and connection, offering both social and therapeutic benefits.
Through this exhibition, Ramelton Art Group celebrates the diverse talents of its members and hopes to inspire others — especially those in the post-retirement stage of life — to discover the fulfilment that comes from exploring art as a creative and social pursuit.
