This exhibition presents a selection of printed works by two artists from Gaza, Raed Issa and Sohail Salem. Both artists have been making drawings that document life during the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis. These prints offer a powerful, first-hand reflection on what it means to live and create art under siege.
Raed Issa, born in Gaza in 1975, is a founding member of the Contemporary Art Encounter Group. His work has been shown in Palestine and around the world, and is held in many international collections. Until very recently, he continued to live and work in Gaza, using his art to express both the pain and the strength of his community.
Sohail Salem, born in Gaza in 1974, is co-founder of the Eltiqa Group of Contemporary Arts. Despite taking part in international residencies and exhibitions, he remains in Gaza City, creating with whatever materials he can find. His drawings and prints capture moments of everyday life amidst destruction, offering a raw and honest record of endurance and humanity.
This exhibition is organised by Bernadette Hopkins and presented in association with the Donegal Branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign.
