An Grianán Theatre presents Wayfaring Strangers featuring Joshua Burnside and special guests, an evening that brings together contemporary songwriting, traditional influences and inventive approaches to folk music.
Joshua Burnside is a Belfast based singer, songwriter and producer whose highly acclaimed work blends Irish folk roots with found sound, world music influences and subtle electronic textures. His debut album Ephrata won the Northern Ireland Music Prize and marked him as one of the most distinctive voices in modern folk. His live performances are known for their atmosphere, intensity and imaginative musical detail.
Joining him on the bill is fiddler Jack Houston. His music is shaped by the Donegal fiddle tradition, as well as Scottish and Ulster styles. His trio for this concert features Ella McGroary and Paul McClure, offering finely crafted arrangements that combine energy and precision.
Also performing is songwriter Mick Hagan, whose finger-style guitar playing recalls elements of folk, blues and early ragtime. His music brings a warm and intimate quality to the programme. The night also features RUÁ, an artist known for blending Irish folk elements with ambient, electronic and world music influences, creating a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted.
Curated as part of the Lasta Young Curators Festival, the concert presents a meeting of musicians who explore tradition in fresh and unexpected ways. It promises an engaging and wide ranging evening of original music.
