A morning talk exploring the rich contribution of Traveller musicians to Donegal’s traditional music heritage. Researcher Rab Cherry will discuss his major new project on the Doherty family, comprising more than forty detailed entries documenting members of this influential musical lineage. The project will be published on the Donegal Fiddle website.The event also features contributions from Conor Caldwell, fiddler and scholar whose PhD focused on the playing of John Doherty, and Bianca Rohleder, fiddler and granddaughter of Simon Doherty of Fintown, brother of John and Mickey. Their perspectives and performances will offer unique insight into the legacy, style and enduring influence of the Doherty family within the Donegal tradition.
