Synthesize_Her is a sound-technology collective established in March 2022 delivering electronics workshops to youth and adults, prioritising engagement with queer and gender divergent people. Synthesize_Her invites participants to learn and build noise-making machines, facilitated by Dublin/London based sound artist and engineer Viva Dean and Cork based artist and musician Michelle Doyle
This three-day event features six workshops that take a hands-on and experimental approach to learning about music production and machines that make noise (…when does noise become music?). The overarching aim is to establish an autonomous learning group who will continue to meet and avail of the sound studio facilities at the RCC over the coming year.
For the first time, Synthesize_Her welcomes guest facilitators Amanda Feery, Julie McLarnon, and Lila Tirando a Violeta.
This course is open to FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, Agender) individuals 18 years and older, and no prior experience is required—beginners are encouraged to attend without fear of disadvantage.
Due to limited availability, participants will be selected by the project facilitator to ensure fair representation among all applicants.
This project is supported by Creative Ireland, Donegal County Council, Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media and Earagail Arts Festival.
