Shelley (a dazzling and vulnerable performance from Golden Globe nominated Pamela Anderson) is a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl, who receives devastating news when her French style revue show announces it is to close after three decades.
While she attempts to work out what is next, she must reconcile with the decisions she has made in the past, while addressing her complicated relationship with her daughter.
This is a celebration of a long-lost Las Vegas and is supported by an outstanding ensemble cast including Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song and Kiernan Shipka.
Gia Coppola’s (Palo Alto) intimate and poignant portrait of a woman contemplating her future is delicately shot on 16mm film. The Last Showgirl will break your heart.
DIRECTOR: GIA COPPOLA
Starring : Pamela Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista
“Warm and generous performances carry this good-natured movie from director Gia Coppola; it’s actually the sort of approachable, actor-led drama for grownups that pundits complain Hollywood doesn’t produce any more.”
-Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
“It’s Pamela Anderson’s deceptively fragile performance that shoulders The Last Showgirl, her breathy, girlish rasp the perfect match for Shelly’s fluttery chatterbox personality.”
-Brianna Zigler, The AV Club
“Director Gia Coppola does such a clever and succinct job of building this world, allowing for quite a vast scope, while limiting what we actually see on screen.”
-Gemma Creagh, Film Ireland Magazine
