This discussion / workshop will explore the fundamental principles of synthesis and sound design, through using various hardware and software instruments and tools. The aim is to explore the fundamental building blocks found in most synthesisers in an open and playful way and help you better understand the key elements used to create sound from scratch.
We’ll explore these core synthesis principles across platforms such as:
Ableton Live / Max for Live
Analogue and digital synthesisers
Modular / eurorack systems
Granular sampling
Participants will look at how keyboards, sequencers and other more unconventional controllers impact the sound design process, while finding ways in which you can incorporate synthesis and creative workflows into your own creative practice.
