Launch of a new book called “One For The Road – 200 Years of the Pubs and Hotels of Letterkenny” by Kieran Kelly in the Regional Cultural Centre at 7pm on Wednesday June 19th. All Welcome.

“There’s more to a pub than a pint!”

The humble pub can be many different things to many people. It could be your place of work or where you met your partner. Or perhaps it’s that place where your parents or grandparents met. It could be where you watch your favourite sports team or it could be the place you no longer go to. However, to many people, it is, and always has been, a place where they can meet and connect with their friends. A place where they can socialise, listen to live music and catch up on all the latest news, gossip and banter of the day – even if it’s not true!

One For The Road looks at the many pubs and hotels that have been in the town of Letterkenny over the last two hundred years, dating from the earliest known records from 1824. In particular we celebrate the people who owned them and the important part they played in our local society, looking at their role in the continued development and growth of the town over two centuries of Letterkenny’s history.
