Join us for a special event celebrating the outstanding portrait artists of Donegal, presented by the Letterkenny Creatives Collective and supported by the Regional Cultural Centre.
Donegal has an exceptionally strong tradition of portraiture, with local artists, including many based in or from Letterkenny, receiving national and international recognition. Three artists from Letterkenny have been selected to take part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year. Over the past decade, Donegal artists have also won multiple awards at the RHA, RUA, RDS, Texaco Art Competition and the National Gallery of Ireland Portrait Prize.
On Saturday 11 April, to coincide with the AIB Portrait Prize Exhibition at the Regional Cultural Centre, Letterkenny Creatives Collective will celebrate our local portrait artists with an afternoon of discussion and creativity.
The event will include a panel discussion with four of Donegal’s highly acclaimed portrait artists: Selena Mowat, Mantas Poderys, Philip Mackey and Daniel Nelis.
This will be followed by a portrait painting and sketching workshop with a live model. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to ask the panel artists for tips and advice on portrait painting.
