Join Dean Fee, writer and editor of The Pig’s Back, for a six week non-fiction workshop. Non-fiction can be anything from personal essays and memoir to travel or food writing, or even diary entries. Over the six weeks, we’ll cover as many aspects of it as possible. Catered towards emerging and intermediate writers, this workshop aims to help participants develop their work through weekly feedback sessions and discussion.
Each participant will be required to submit at least one work sample (no more than 5,000 words) for the group to read and then discuss in class. Two pieces will be discussed each week. We will focus on aspects of the work such as voice, character, and structure. As well as reading each other’s work, we will also be discussing essays from some of the world’s best writers, from Didion to Woolf to Barthes, Borges and Hardwick.
We ask that all participants come to the workshop with an open mind and a willingness to both give and receive constructive feedback.
