Chamber Choir Ireland is the country’s flagship choral ensemble under the internationally celebrated and multi award winning choral conductor Paul Hillier as Artistic Director.
Formerly the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, the Choir is known for its unique approach to programming and has gained a reputation for the high artistic quality of its performances. The Choir’s repertoire spans from early to contemporary music, regularly commissioning pioneering vocal work by both Irish and International composers. For their concert in Letterkenny Chamber Choir Ireland present a portrait in sound of the golden age of English music. The programme will feature two masterpieces of the period: William Byrd’s Mass for 4 voices and the Lamentations of Jeremiah by Thomas Tallis. The Letterkenny concert at Conwal Parish Church on March 8th at 7pm is one of only three on the tour, in addition to Waterford and a final performance at The National Concert Hall on Good Friday. The tour is funded by the Arts Council Touring and Dissemination of Work Scheme.
