The Lifford Players – A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant

Thursday, 25th February at 8.00pm.

The Lifford Players perform Tom Murphy’s humourous play, ‘A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant’. Set in a town in rural Ireland in the spring of 1958, The play is a quirky comment on post-war Ireland’s inability to deal with the recurring problems of emigration. It can be seen as a metaphor for the Ireland of the late Fifties while still speaking to us in the 21st Century. John Joe Moran’s struggle to look deep within himself to find his own voice is a struggle for the ages.
