Shore Shots

October 7 – November 29

Shore Shots the Irish Surf Film Festival Dublin and the Regional Cultural Centre present a photography showcase of the best in Irish surf photography from the 2013/2014 season. The main body of work features a project undertaken by Sligo based photographer Christian McLeod. McLeod travelled to the North West’s best surf locations with South African surfer and environmentalist Barry Mottershead, creating a dynamic portrait of the sport and the dedication required to surf the best waves. Adopting a photojournalistic approach, McLeod who is originally from Montana, USA, has produced work for companies such as Red Bull and has been published in many international surf titles. The selection of his work was sponsored by Sligo Company Image Framers and featured in the Shore Shots Irish Surf Film Festival that took place in Dublin in March 2014. In addition the show features the work of Cork surf photographer John Beasley, French marine researcher Benoit Queguineur and Co. Clare surfer David Olsthoorn. Curator of the exhibition Shane O’ Donoghue says:

‘Together this selection shows the tenacity, beauty and power of the sea, as well as celebrating the skills of the surfers and photographers that spend as many days of the year as possible in the water- seeking the perfect ride.’
