New Traditions: Lisa ONeill Trio & Lemoncello
Letterkenny Trad Week 2020
Sunday 19th January, 8pm

Acclaimed Irish folk artist Lisa ONeill comes to Letterkenny Trad Week for an evening of raw, true folk songs.

‘Heard A Long Gone Song’, her first album for Rough Trade Records imprint River Lea, is a collection of traditional material interspersed with her own. The sense of ownership Lisa imbues in these old songs, coupled with the immutability of her chosen subjects makes it hard to tell which is which. Tackling songs passed through generations, some mixed with political messages giving a voice to a community, or dark tales of the past, Lisa performs all with ease.

“extraordinary… heartbreaking…gets you in the gut” ***** The Guardian

Lemoncello are Laura Quirke and Claire Kinsella; two Irish musicians, from Co. Carlow and Donegal respectively, who became friends while studying at Maynooth University, near Dublin. They make music together using four fundamental ingredients—a guitar, a cello and two voices.

“Quirke and Kinsella create baroque folk good for the head and the heart.” – Tony Clayton Lea, The Irish Times
